SCHOLARSHIP & AWARD EVALUATION & PROCESS

A. HIGH SCHOOL GRADUATES CAN APPLY FOR ONE OF THE FOLLOWING TWO SCHOLARSHIPS

(I) ACADEMIC SCHOLARSHIP (*)

  1. Must meet basic eligibility requirements.
  2. Submit highlights of your personal biography, not to exceed 75 words for the yearbook.
  3. Scholarship evaluation is based on maximum 100 awarded points distributed as follows:
  • 65 points (maximum) awarded for Academic Achievement (mail us an endorsed copy of a High School Transcript for 3 years is required, plus first semester senior year) – Submit transcripts
  • 25 points (maximum) awarded for Scholastic Assessment Test (SAT), or American College Test (ACT) score – Mail us your certified test score
  • 10 points (maximum) awarded for NON-Academic leadership and extracurricular activities such as: Recognition Awards (outside academics), Community Services, Athletics, Charity / Church Involvement, Mentoring, and any other non-academic extracurricular activity you want to highlight. Submit a list of the activities. Mail any hardcopy documentation to support these activities will help you earn more points.

(II) NEWCOMERS’ SCHOLARSHIP (*)

  1. Open only to applicants who have resided in the U.S. less than fiver years.
  2. Must meet basic eligibility requirements.
  3. Submit highlights of your personal biography for the yearbook, not to exceed 75 words.
  4. Scholarship evaluation is based on 100 awarded points distributed as follows:
  • 65 points (maximum) awarded for Academic Achievement (an endorsed copy of a High School Transcript for 3 years is required, plus first semester senior year) – Submit transcripts
  • 25 points (maximum) awarded for Scholastic Assessment Test (SAT), or American College Test (ACT) score – Submit your certified test score
  • 10 points (maximum) awarded for NON-Academic leadership and extracurricular activities such as: Recognition Awards (outside academics), Community Services, Athletics, Charity / Church Involvement, Mentoring, and any other non-academic extracurricular activity you want to highlight. B. HIGH SCHOOL & COLLEGE GRADUATES MAY ALSO APPLY FOR THE ESSAY AWARD

The submitted essay must range between 500-1000 words . You may e-mail it separately to 08commencement@gmail.com. Top three essay candidates may be interviewed for authentication. Please choose one of the two subjects below to write your essay.

HIGH SCHOOL SUBJECTS:

  1. Discuss your Chaldean roots influence on your future
  2. Reflect on the type of actions you would take to help the Iraqi refugees, if you were a diplomat

COLLEGE SUBJECTS

  1. Indicate how your aspirations have evolved over time and state why
  2. Identify a personal obstacle and state how it has influenced you and your career path

C. HIGH SCHOOL GRADUATES CAN ALSO APPLY FOR THE SPECIAL TALENT SCHOLARHSIP

Mail us your academic transcript(s) – min 3.0 gpa is required. Send us special recognition and recommendation letters to support your talent. You may also write an essay telling us why you deserve a scholarship for your talent describing any career intentions you may have for your talent.
