Operation R-4

Over the past three years, more than 80,000 minorities have been forced to flee Iraq to escape unrelenting violence and ethnic/religious persecution. Chaldeans are the original inhabitants of Iraq, but are now not safe nor welcome in their homeland.

Adopt-a-Refugee-Family

Because of its magnitude and urgency, the Chaldean Federation of America has partnered with various well-known organizations in Jordan, Lebanon, Syria, etc., as well as with an international Jesuit organization to launch the “Adopt-A-Refugee-Family” initiative.

Resettlement Task Force and Reception & Placement (R&P)

We collaborate with other humanitarian organizations for refugees to better intergrat in the US society

is a coalition of Voluntary Resettlement Agencies (VOLAGs) and several humanitarian providing organization offering reception and placement (R&P) services to the new Iraqi refugees arrivals in Michigan, California, Arizona, and Nevada.

Pro-Bono legal immigration clinics & consultations

Provide free research, consultation and expert witness affidavits on behalf of asylum seekers, detainees, immigration petition seekers to U.S. Immigration Courts through partnering & networking with Pro-Bono legal immigration clinics and law schools throughout the United States.

Legislation and Consultation

We advocate for human rights and equality:

  • CFA advocacy efforts on the Capitol Hill and its consultation to United Nations on Iraqi refugees resulted in:
  • UNHCR recognizing and processing Iraqi religeous minorities as vulnerable group
  • The Passage of US Senate Bill 2782: Recognizing Iraqi Religeous minorities as persecuted group
  • The passage of House of Representatives Bill 3724: Admit Iraqis who worked for US government in Iraq with Special Immigrant Visa (SIV)
  • The Passage of House of Representatives Bill 3828: Reducing backlog in processing security background checks on Iraqis
  • The passage of US Senate Bill 2782/Section1247: Re-open denial or termination asylum cases starting on or after March 2003

Operation Education

The Chaldean Federation of America is hosting a major book drive and hoping to raise 100,000 books to help fund the CFA scholarship program. Used books are being accepted at a number of locations including the CFA office at 30777 Northwestern Highway, Suite 300, in Southfield, and the Chaldean News/Chaldean Chamber office, 29850 Northwestern Highway, Suite 250, in Southfield.
